Chocolate Coffee Beans

I am a coffee and a chocolate lover. I still remember the first time I bit into my first handful of Chocolate Coffee Beans, it was pure bliss. Since then I have been making them for friends and family every year during the holidays. They have become a favorite among everyone I share them with. The great thing about chocolate coffee beans is that you can order them online, buy them in stores or even make them yourself. I’m going to talk to you today about making them yourself.
Before we jump in to making them there are a few things I need to cover. If your a coffee junkie like me then
you probably have good high quality gormet coffee beans around your house. Quality is key when you are making chocolate coffee beans. You can not use a cheap coffee bean because the taste will jump out drastically. You also want to use a quality chocolate, missing on either of these could result in some pretty terrible chocolate coffee beans. I have had people make them for me, and I can tell you from first hand experience, they can go wrong.
When selecting the chocolate you can actually use a name brand chocolate chip. Same thing you would use to bake cookies. A better option would be to stop by your local gourmet chocolate store and pick up some good baking chocolate. The chocolate chips are nice because you do not need to add sugar, it simplifies the process some.
The best way to melt your chocolate is to put the chips or bakers chocolate into a double boiler. This will allow you greater flexibility with the temperature of the chocolate and you can avoid burning it. A double boiler set up basically consists of two pans. On of which fits into the other. The bottom pan would have water that boils and the top pan would contain the chocolate you are melting.
Melting the chocolate is the hard part! Now all you have to do is gather your coffee beans and start dipping. Once you pull the chocolate coffee bean out of the chocolate you can place it on wax paper to allow it to cool. Don’t forget to add some flavors to your chocolate. You can add anything from vanilla to hazelnut to spice up the flavor of your chocolate coffee beans. You can also roll the bean in a little baking cocoa before putting it on the wax paper, this will add a little bit of bitterness to compliment the sweetness of your chocolate coffee beans.
Once you get it down you can try these different variations of chocolate coffee beans.
